Bunny Burson is a multi-media artist focused on the intersection of history, politics and science. Trained as a printmaker, interested in materiality and influenced by conceptual art, she experiments with diverse processes to create work addressing historic and contemporary issues. Her research into her genetic profile and subsequent experimentation with fabrication technology have led Burson to continue the exploration of her personal history, visually animating scientific data and linking her generation to the past and the present.
Burson was born in Memphis, TN., and received a B.A. in French from Tulane University, including a year at the Sorbonne in Paris. She earned a B.F.A. from the Memphis College of Art and an M.F.A. from the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including in New York, Memphis, Snowmass, Colorado, Nashville and Leipzig, Germany. Awards include an artist residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts-Washington University in St. Louis Award for Distinction.
