Sara Ghazi Asadollahi Iranian, b. 1984
Sara Ghazi Asadollahi is an Iranian-born artist currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. She holds her B.A. and M.A.from universities in Iran and an M.F.A. degree from the Sam Fox School of Visual Arts & Design, Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Her work deals with imagery of ruins and abandoned places which serve as palimpsests of a past civilization: a reference to the skeletal structures often created by war. Ruins signal absence and presence simultaneously: the intersection of the visible and invisible. Fragmented and decayed, the presence of ruins points to endurance and persistence.
